5 Maintenance Tips to Take Care of Your Home Appliances

-

Since Covid-19, people are spending more time at home whether it is to study for online classes or work from home. It means that we are spending more time cooking meals at home and using appliances more frequently.

Preventative cleaning and maintaining your home appliances are necessary to run them efficiently. It also helps extend its lifetime and save you from buying new appliances more often.

Here are some cleaning tips to help you keep your home appliances in the best condition.

Clean the Refrigerator Coils

One of your most used home appliances is the refrigerator. The door seals on the fridge can loosen over time so regularly check the rubber gaskets. It will prevent damage down the road.

Routinely clean the rubber gaskets using a clean cloth with soap and water. Doing so will keep the rubber gaskets clean without compromising on the cold. Another important area to clean is the condenser coil of your fridge. Clean the dirt and debris that accumulates to keep it running efficiently.

Replace Your Water Filter

Some refrigerators come with a water filter, and it needs routine maintenance. You can have the water filter replaced every two to three months depending on usage.

If you notice a change in color or water pressure then change it immediately. Water filters that are changed more often have impurities that can risk your health.

Clean Stove Spills

Commonly, food particles and liquids accumulate on the stovetop. When not cleaned regularly, it can compile over time and prevent the stove from working properly. When cleaning your stove top, start by soaking hood vents, knobs, and burners in your sink for a few hours.

Rub the metal plates with steel wool to remove stuck particles. Then wipe down the crumbs that are stuck between the counters with a cloth. In case your stove is still not working efficiently then you can call in a professional Bosch appliance maintenance company.

Examine the Water Heater

You can expand the lifespan of your water heater with proper maintenance. With use, minerals can easily build up in the water heater and it can reduce its efficiency. Even if you have high-quality hot tubs, they won’t be of any use if your heating system has problems.

Get your water heater inspected by a professional once in a while.

Inspect Washing Machine

You may have seen a water flood in your laundry and might be wondering what is causing it. Well, the main reason is the leaks in washing machine hoses. Occasionally, check the washing machine hoses for any cracks, leaks, and weak spots. If you notice any damage then it’s time to replace them soon.

Some people may not realize it but cleaning the inside of the washing machine is also essential. Because of water, mold can grow quickly on washing machines. Wipe the inside of the machine and the seals with a towel. Help the inside of the machine to dry by leaving it open after a wash.
